Here are a few activities in case you’re still looking for some ways to fill your time in this beautiful stretch of the Central Oregon Coast as summer begins.
Closing Weekend of Finders Keepers
Visitors flock to Lincoln City between October and May each year for their chance to find one of the colorful, handcrafted glass floats “hidden” by volunteers known as float faeries along the city’s 7½ miles of coastline. While the average glass drop might only consist of a handful of floats on the beach, an additional 100 glass treasures will be dropped on the public beaches between Siletz Bay and the Roads End area over Memorial Day Weekend.
Art on the Edge Studio Showcase
The Art on the Edge Studio Showcase is essentially a tour of local artists’ studios around the Lincoln City area, so members of the public can see how these masters create their works of art. The 2nd annual installment of this eclectic and artful event kicked off on Friday, May 11th with an Opening Reception at the Chessman Gallery, and you can still check out the art until June 4th.
Live Music in Lincoln City
If you find yourself in one of our beach houses or beach condo rentals for a fun-loving weekend, why not check out some live music in Lincoln City? On May 26th at 9 PM, you can enjoy classic rock with Revolving Door at Snug Harbor Bar & Grill or classic blues and rock with Garry Meziere & Joanne Broh at Rusty Truck Brewing. On the evening of May 27th, the Memorial Day Weekend continues with Neil Young tribute band Harvest Gold at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, as well as Unplugged at Snug Harbor Bar & Grill at 8:30 PM and the electric blues of Hippie Love Slave at Rusty Truck Brewing at 8 PM. Summer Morning Matinees
The Bijou Theatre continues its Saturday Morning Cinema series on May 26th with the 1939 film “They Made Me A Criminal” at 11 AM for only $2. The classic movie stars John Garfield as a boxer on the run after being accused of murder, who finds himself at a working farm where he meets The Dead End Kids. The theatre will also host a special Memorial Day Summer Morning Matinee with the beloved 1991 animated film “An American Tail 2” at 11 AM for $2.
Lincoln City Farmers & Crafters Market
Summer Sundays in Lincoln City are made for the farmer’s and crafters market, where everything is either home-grown or hand-made by the people selling it. On May 27th, June 3rd and other upcoming Sundays, you will find the market at the Lincoln City Cultural Center from 9 AM to 3 PM.
Local Players Perform at Theatre West
Borderline Crazies is playing at Theatre West from May 31st to June 2nd with doors at 7 PM and curtains at 7:30 PM. The play takes place in and around a rustic Lake Tahoe cabin, which has been double-booked for a snowy weekend. Just as everyone is fighting over who gets to stay, a snowstorm seals everyone inside – and to make matters worse, an ax murderer is on the loose!
Free Fishing Weekend
If you love to fish and you find yourself in Lincoln City on the weekend of June 2nd and 3rd, you will definitely want to take advantage of a free fishing weekend! This is when the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife gives visitors and residents of the state an entire weekend of free fishing, crabbing and clamming with no license required.
This is just an example of how you might fill your time in Lincoln City. There is truly something for everyone, including doing nothing as you relax on the beach! However you find yourself here, just know that there are many ways to enjoy everything this coastal city has to offer.
